Free AI Training Programme Launches in the Czech Republic
Artificial intelligence is fundamentally reshaping the labour market and transforming many professions across industries. A new European initiative funded by Google.org is therefore providing free AI training to workers whose roles are expected to be most affected by technological change. In the Czech Republic, the AI Training Hub programme is being implemented by the Association for Applied Research in IT (AAVIT), which aims to train more than 1,500 people by the end of 2027.
“We are pleased to serve as the local partner of this initiative and help bring AI education to the people who need it most today. Our goal is to show Czech workers that artificial intelligence is a tool that can significantly simplify their everyday work and strengthen their position in the labour market,” said Jaromír Hanzal, Director of AAVIT.
The initiative aims to help European workers acquire practical AI skills and prepare for a changing working environment and evolving labour market demands. In Central and Eastern Europe, the programme is being implemented in the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia and Moldova, with a shared goal of training more than 11,000 people.
The programme is coordinated across the CEE region by the Lithuanian organisation Talents For Tech, which is investing more than €2.3 million in developing AI skills through the initiative.
“AI is not only changing the nature of work. It is changing the very definition of workforce readiness. By helping people gain practical AI skills today, we will not only fill existing roles but also significantly boost economic productivity and ensure that no worker is left behind in the digital economy,” said Liza Ateh, Head of Google.org for the EMEA region.
According to data from the OECD and the World Economic Forum, Central and Eastern Europe is among the regions where automation is expected to significantly affect more than a quarter of jobs involving routine and administrative tasks. AI Works for Europe therefore focuses primarily on professions outside the IT sector, including administrative staff, customer support professionals, accountants, public-sector employees, marketing professionals and people undergoing retraining.
“The Czech labour market does not only need technology specialists. People across all professions need to be able to use artificial intelligence effectively in their everyday work. The ability to work with AI will be a decisive factor in the competitiveness of both companies and employees in the years ahead,” added Jaromír Hanzal.
“Too many people currently risk being left behind simply because they have not had access to learning opportunities. With the support of Google.org, we can now offer thousands of people across Central and Eastern Europe practical and accessible pathways to build confidence in using artificial intelligence and apply it in their careers,” said Jarune Preiksaite, CEO of Talents For Tech.
Practical AI skills for everyday work
Participants in the AI Training Hub programme will receive free access to the Google AI Professional Certificate on Coursera. Developed by Google experts, the course focuses on the practical use of AI in the workplace – from writing effective prompts and working with information, research and data to automating routine tasks and creating content.
The course consists of seven consecutive modules that participants can complete at their own pace. The programme also includes three months of access to Google AI Pro and Gemini Advanced tools.
In the Czech Republic, participants will also receive additional support in Czech. AAVIT is preparing a study guide, webinars, community discussions and further resources to help participants complete the course and apply their newly acquired skills in practice.
Registration is available at aitraininghub.eu.
